It is an extraordinary thing to have to write this from
my self-isolation and from a social distance, but write I must.
Cabbages & Roses was born from a need to wear clothes
that enhanced life, and that had an element of drama, distraction and interest
that was so hard to find 20 years ago. I have always been a proponent of
disguise and layering which is what C&R hope to do season after season.
We wanted to provide the beautiful, elegant and homely fabrics that made our homes home.
As events unfold and we find ourselves isolated in our
homes it is a difficult balance to work out the important things in life and to
get our priorities right. From the conception of Cabbages & Roses we have
done our very best to tread gently, it was never about commercial gain, it was
always about sustainability and giving joy to our customers and staff alike. We
remain a small company and we are doing all we can to continue to provide
beautiful clothing.
As important as it is to stay positive in these difficult
times, it is also important to continue to support the small companies who
without your custom will get swept away in the flood of uncertainty.
We are calm and we are carrying on. We can provide a mail
order service from our office as well as online and Cabbages
& Roses are busy employing wonderful crafts people at our tiny factory
on the outskirts of London making our new collection which will start arriving
in April.
We think it is important to stay connected and to share
positivity during this difficult time, so expect to keep hearing from us.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any
questions or just want a chat.
For now, we’re sending love and positivity to everyone
sick, struggling or self-isolating.
Let’s all keep looking out for one another and support
all the wonderful enterprises who at the drop of a hat are adapting and
changing their way of working in order to keep the employed employed.
Most of all to the health workers, the garbage collectors, the shelf stackers, delivery drivers, the post men, the IT workers, the hospital builders, the hospital cleaners and of course the self isolationists.
