An Interview With Tinct

We are delighted & excited to be hosting a pop up with some very talented people the week before Christmas. We interview Rosie & Ben who run Tinct and hope that we will see you for some Christmas shopping while they are residents at Sydney Street. There will be workshops, parties, treats and beautiful things to see.

xx C&R xx

1. FIRST OF ALL, CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU DO?
MANY PEOPLE SAY DON'T WORK WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS, HOW ARE YOU BOTH FINDING IT?

We run TINCT, a British Made Leather Goods brand, which summarises things pretty succinctly. We are a brother sister team, harking from the South Coast of England where we have a wonderful draughty studio in an old barn, with a little log burner.   Rosie is the creative lead, designer, and the founder of the business. Ben is the marketing man, and doer of business-ey things. In practice however, the boundaries blur & we jump on the to do’s whenever needed. Launching the business has been exhilarating, exhausting, challenging and rewarding. Glimmers of hope and opportunity shine through when times are tough, and it’s never business as usual. Working with a sibling is a thing to cherish. Learning then to switch off the business head & just hang out with your bro / sis is the harder part.

2. IF YOU HAD TO DESCRIBE CABBAGES & ROSES IN A SENTENCE WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Charm-ya-pants off quintessential British design

3. WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?

Down on the South coast of England, just outside of a town called Chichester, in a creaky old house that was filled with sculptures, rugs and pets

4. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE FROM THE C&R COLLECTION?

Rosie - I’ve taken rather a fancy to your cashmere roll neck dress…and all the velvet gear

9. WHAT/WHERE IS YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE IN THE WORLD?

Anywhere near the coast. Our local beach, West Wittering holds a special place in our heart.

10. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SMELL?

Rosie - Bonfires on a cold day, petrol stations on a hot day, and figs. And leather, of course.

Rosie - I’d like to become a master of something and dedicate my life to knowing everything about one thing. Or just be content with being a beach bum and growing vegetables….now theres a thought….

Ben - A bonfire chef and vineyard owner, with a fire thats constantly stoked, concocting constant feasts and wines for my tribe

14. CHOCOLATE OR VEGETABLES?

Rosie - Do praline asparagus from Rococo count as vegetables?
