This year marks the 16th anniversary of a fantastic working relationship with our textile printing company so we decided to take a sneak peek behind the scenes.
Overseeing all of our print runs is 'Podge', who we affectionately named our 'Podge' print after.
He's a walking printing encyclopedia and pretty good DJ too! Every time Podge sets a print run live we send a C&R team member to inspect the colour and finish to make sure everything is perfect.
All of our textiles are screen printed but we're developing some really exciting digital ranges to provide you with a tailored service - watch this space for news of the launch!
Using eco friendly inks, we straighten the cloth before printing it using either flat bed or rotary machines. As soon as the inks have dried we wash and soften the fabric adding a touch of 'lived in' charm.
Our best known print, Hatley, is named after Louise Hatley who used to screen print our fabrics by hand in an old railway tunnel in London Bridge. Hatley came about whilst working on our first ever fabric (Bees), accidentally leaving out some of the screens during the printing process we fell in love with the end result and named it after Louise.
Cabbages & Roses' first ever design, Bees, was named after Christina and Brigette witnessed a huge swarm sweeping through Brigette's garden. The print was later used on a Lizzie Jagger shoot for Vogue.
